Mitzie has a proven track record of building and championing Toronto. She served as Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Scarborough-Guildwood, securing an impressive four consecutive election victories over the course of a decade. During that time, she held the following high-profile positions:

  • Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Development

  • Associate Minister of Finance

Mitzie's diverse background encompasses both the public and private sectors, including prominent roles in one of Canada's largest information and communications technology companies, as well as involvement in the dynamic startup and small business landscape.

Mitzie has actively contributed to numerous organizations as a board member, including the Kiwanis Club of Scarborough (founding member); United Way of Toronto; TVO and Yonge Street Mission. Mitzie has championed improvements to her community from playgrounds to large scale public infrastructure including Scarborough’s subway extension and new hospital.  She was also the catalyst for the new Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health at the University of Toronto.
